During his legendary career as one of the twentieth century's most prolific and highly acclaimed photographers, Ansel Adams created striking images that exerted a trememdous influence on the concept of an ideal American wilderness. In 1941 the United States Department of the Interior hired Adams to photograph the country's national parks for a series of murals celebrating America's natural heritage. Through the project was suspended within the year, Adams succeeded in producing a group of breathtaking images displaying tremendous technical genius and aesthetic inventiveness. Four of these photographs, reproduced here as stunning notecards, display Adam's prophetic vision and demonstrated why he is considered America's foremost landscape photographer.
