During his legendary career as one of the twentieth century's most prolific and highly acclaimed photographers, Ansel Adams created striking images that exerted a trememdous influence on the concept of an ideal American wilderness. In 1941 the United States Department of the Interior hired Adams to photograph the country's national parks for a series of murals celebrating America's natural heritage. Through the project was suspended within the year, Adams succeeded in producing a group of breathtaking images displaying tremendous technical genius and aesthetic inventiveness.
